Local independent group Built for the Sea today announced that they will be celebrating the launch of a new EP, Mise en Scène, with a release showcase featuring two other local groups at the historic Slim's in San Francisco.

Mise en Scène represents a new departure for Built for the Sea, according to main songwriter and lead singer, Lia Rose. She describes this new EP as an intense collaboration of the four band mates fueled by a strong interdependence that permeates the local independent music community. Rose says, "While working to give each song life, we've been maintaining the delicate balance it takes to work in a truly cooperative way."

On September 18, Built for the Sea will be joined by San Francisco independent groups Tartufi and Low Red Land for an epic CD Launch Party. Each of the three bands will be showcasing a new release alongside a brand new Thread Compilation Release that features these three groups and many more – totaling four new albums in one night!

"It is incredible to be able to celebrate this release with our friends, Tartufi and Low Red Land," said Rose, "The synergy that we've developed as a band is strengthened by the local independent community and, in turn, we hope that our efforts strengthen the community as well."

Don't miss Built for the Sea and the three local bands' release showcase at Slim's on September 18. Doors open at 7:30pm and the show starts at 8pm. Click here for tickets.

  • About Built for the Sea

Built for the Sea began in 2005 when lead singer, Lia Rose – formerly of Minipop – began to center her focus on her own songwriting. Over time, she managed to surround herself with a group of multi-talented musicians: Daniel McKenzie (The Rum Diary, SEU), Jon Latimer (The Aimless Never Miss), and Eric Kuhn (Silian Rail). Based on the philosophy that a strong local community should be the foundation of independent music, Built for the Sea emphasizes their close bonds in the hopes that their love for independently created music will be reflected in the community. Ships are safe at harbor but built for the sea.
